David Wortley FRSA is a motivational speaker, futurist, and technology thought leader with over 40 years of experience in driving change through innovation. He has also been honored as The “Most Influential Global Leader in Immersive Health & Education, 2025” by CToday”. He is CEO and Founder of 360in360 Immersive Experiences, Vice President of the International Society of Digital Medicine, and Non-Executive Director of the World Lifestyle Medicine Education Services. His work blends technology, health, and education for global impact.
Developing a Career in Innovation
David started his career when he looked at the envelope with the formal document awarding him his degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Birmingham in 1971. He later completed his Diploma in Management Studies with Distinction from Leicester Polytechnic. The mix of technical and management competencies places David in the development of a career, and one focused on solving real-world problems through technology. He has acted as an adviser, mentor, and keynote speaker at over 100 international conferences over the years, in addition to using his broader knowledge throughout the UK in not-for-profit and commercial contexts, which includes the implementation of digital health, immersive media, gamification, serious games, and sustainable development.
From Serious Games to Global Leadership
From 2006 to 2011, David was the Founding Director of the Serious Games Institute (SGI) at Coventry University. He helped SGI become a global centre of excellence for applied research and innovation, supporting businesses and organisations in realising the opportunities of serious games and immersive technologies across healthcare, education, and training. His achievements in this role saw him awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts, a huge honour which recognised his work to further the digital innovation agenda.
Today, David’s leadership and influence are global. He is Director of the Health and Wellbeing Technology Centre at IORMA Global Futures, International Business Development Director for Imaginary in Milan, current member of the editorial board for the Digital Medicine Journal, WAS chair and Distinguished Service Award recipient for establishing the European chapter of ISDM, as well as Working Group member of various global organisations as Visiting Fellow, Project Supervisor or Advisory Board member.
Advocating for Digital Health and Sharing the Journey
David has been an enthusiastic advocate for wearable technology, immersive media, and online tools that promote preventative health and lifelong learning. David’s work has included working closely with UK life science companies in order to help them explore new opportunities and partnerships across the international markets.
In addition to his work with public and private organisations, David is also a prolific author, with a range of academic and business publications to his name. He has published Gadgets to God, a thought-provoking reflection on how technology has shaped and influenced society over the last 70 years. Whether his work was as a public speaker, in an advisory role, or in his innovative pursuits, David continues to inspire individuals and organisations everywhere that technology can promote a healthier, more connected, and inclusive future.
