Honored as “Most Empowering Voice in Equality & Inclusion 2025.”

Since 1985, Sara Ting has been a pioneering diversity, inclusion, and social cohesion advocate. As the founder of World Unity Inc., she has devoted her life to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion through the Sun Poem and the initiatives it has inspired to create a world where all individuals are respected and treated with dignity. With a journalism and public service background, Sara has employed the power of words and grassroots organizing to drive change. She has also been honored as the “Most Empowering Voice in Equality & Inclusion 2025” by the CToday Awards. Her best-known work, the Sun Poem, is now an international symbol of equality, reminding humanity that human dignity is universal and not based on race, culture, or origin.
The Power of Words: The Sun Poem Movement
Sara Ting’s Sun Poem is a simple yet deep poem that conveys a universal message of unity. The poem, “Are you greater than the sun, that shines on everyone—Black, Brown, Yellow, Red, and White, the sun does not discriminate,” became the basis of her life’s work. It was posted in schools, offices, and public places to invite self-reflection, ignite change, and empower individuals to become more self-aware of their unconscious bias. The influence of the poem is widespread as organizations and individuals reflect on their attitudes and adopt a mindset of inclusion, addressing biases that stem from the heart. Through this movement, Sara transformed the way people think about diversity, not as a challenge, but as a strength.
Founding World Unity Inc.
An extraordinary story of forgiveness inspired by the Sun Poem, led Sara to found World Unity Inc. in 1993, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing equality, diversity and inclusion by raising self-awareness through the Sun Poem and empowering and inspiring individuals through the arts, education, innovative ideas, community outreach, and public awareness campaigns. The organization has collaborated with businesses, schools, and government agencies on its initiatives to promote greater understanding and cooperation among diverse populations.
Under Sara’s direction, World Unity Inc. has promoted groundbreaking initiatives and innovative initiatives inspired by the Sun Poem, such as Singing Equality Across America and Around the World, public service announcements and national campaigns, leadership workshops, and creative undertakings that promote messages of unity. The organization’s efforts have touched thousands of people and initiated significant dialogue on social harmony and equality. She will be a Keynote Speaker at the upcoming Business Frontier Leadership Awards 2025 and will be honored with the Beacon of Global Unity Award.
Breaking Bias: A Personal Approach to Equality
Sara believes that the path to lasting equality begins with self-awareness. While it is important to dismantle existing systems, she believes it is essential for individuals to reflect on their own biases through what she calls the Sun Poem. Her approach is not about forcing change upon others but about guiding people to recognize and address their unconscious prejudices.
Sara emphasizes that laws, policies, and technology alone cannot erase biases that are deeply ingrained in human nature. While societal structures can encourage fairness, true progress depends on individuals taking responsibility for removing their biases. She emphasizes that her approach to advancing equality for humanity is grounded in positivity and guided by love. She firmly states that her message focuses on promoting values such as equality, self-awareness, compassion, patience, and forgiveness.
The Path to Personal and Professional Growth
Asking herself why she is here on earth and what her purpose has been is fundamental to her work and life journey. Sara emphasizes the importance of self-awareness as the foundation for both personal and professional development. She believes that growth comes from stepping outside one’s comfort zone and confronting unconscious biases. According to her, true progress begins when individuals embrace their natural talents and align their work with their core values rather than external expectations. Guided by timeless principles, Sara advises that major decisions should be approached with two essential questions: “Why am I doing this?” and “If today were my last day, would I still go through with this decision?” She asserts that the right decision brings inner peace.
Rather than comparing themselves to others, she encourages individuals to set their own goals and cultivate a support system of people who genuinely believe in them. She highlights the necessity of embracing discomfort, thinking beyond conventional limits, and overcoming fears. Success, she reminds us, is never achieved in isolation—it requires a strong team that shares the same vision. Sara also underscores the importance of self-compassion, humor, and maintaining faith in something greater than oneself. For her, that faith is deeply rooted in God, providing strength and direction in her journey.
